According to JIS C 3005 test standard of 4.27 bending test, The bending shall be tested by one of the methods in 4.27.1 to 4.27.2 according to the construction. Cabtire construction shall be tested by one of the following methods according to the shape of sample.
|Take a sample of suitable length from the product, fix both ends through the sample passage hole on the rotor of the bend tester according to thethickness of sample, as shown in figure 19.||4.27.1 Cabtire Construction → a) Round Type|
|Mount the sample so that it will havethe fixed distance (r) and the bending radius (l) given in A or B of table 10 according to the class of wire.|
|Rotate the rotor 200 revolutions continuously at a rate ofapproximately 20 revolutions per minute.|
|Examine the sample visually for break-age, flaws or cracks,and examine visually for the number of broken componentwires of each core at the fixed points and the passage hole.|
|Suitable means shall be taken to prevent the twisting of passage.|
|Take a sample of suitable length from the product, bend it through 90° along the circular arc of a mandrel with a diameter of five times the minor axis of cable, return to the straight position, bend through 90° in the opposite direction, andreturn it to the straight position.||4.27.1 Cabtire Construction → b) Flat Type|
|When this series of operations is carried out at a rate of 10 cycles per minute(six cycles per minute for the conductor nominal cross-section area over 38 mm2) continuously for 200 cycles.|
|Then examine the sample visually for breakage, flaws or cracks and examine visually for the number of broken com-ponent wires of each core.|
|Take a sample of suitable length from the product, bend it gradually through approximately 180° along a circular arc with a diameter of approximately 20 times the outside diameter of the lead sheath (for circular type) or the minor axis (for flat type), return to the straight position, and bend it in the opposite direction.||4.27.2 Lead Sheath Construction|
|Repeat this series of opera-tions three times (six bends), and examine visually for cracks on the lead sheath.|
|Take a sample of suitable length from the product,keep at (200±3)°C for 6 h, and hold in the ordinary temperature for 24 h or longer.||4.27.3 Braiding Construction|
|Bend the sample through approximately 90° along the circular arc specified in individual standard, return to the original position, bend through approximately 90° in the opposite direction, and return it to the original position.|
|Repeat this series of operations twice (four bends), and examine the braiding for the generation of cleavage or peeling of the coating.|
|Flat construction shall be examined by the following method. a)Take a sample of suitable length from the product, fix one end to the fixing gadget of the tester shown in figure 20 through the space between two smooth metal cylinders with diameter 5 mm, and hang a weight of 150 g per mm3 of cross-section area of conductor (500 g, if less than 500 g) to the other end.Bend the sample by rotating right and left alternately, through approximately 180° each while passing a current equal to the allowable current (see Annex C) through the sample (take this operation as one cycle).||4.27.4 Flat Construction (Cord)|
|The two cylinders and the fixing gadget of the bend tester are to be rotated as one unit. Carry out 100 cycles of this operation continuously at a rate of approximately 10 cycles per minute and examine visually for the number of broken component wires of each core.|
|b) Take a sample of suitable length from the product, keep at 100°C for 48 h, and test by the method specified in a) until one core is broken down. Examine the samplefor line-to-line short circuits,and for flaws,cracks and other irregularities on theinsulation.|
